News: “Clickworthy” Toolbar Icon Collection

I’ve added something new to my Icon Shop today.

News: Whitespace Updated!

I’ve added another 25 icons to the Whitespace Stock Icons Collection. Most of these icons are expanding on existing themes but I’m introducing a new niche of “to-do” icons too.

The next update is scheduled for September 10th.

News: Redesign (Beta)

Over the last week I’ve taught myself enough about CSS and WordPress to turn my own design into the WordPress theme you see before you which I have nicknamed “Chiclet-Beta”. I didn’t know what a “div” was last Sunday but today I’ve got a functioning blog of my own design.

Please stand by as I tweak the text and correct some of the alignment issues. If something doesn’t work or any of the content is broken please send me an email and I’ll get right on it.

The largest task ahead is to insert all the exceptions for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser, but I’m not in much of a hurry; While IE is the browser with the largest install base it’s used by a very small portion of my visitors (illustrated below).

About The “Chiclet-Beta” WordPress Theme

“Chiclet” is designed to be a clean, white WordPress theme that features the use of bold icons and graphics with pixel-level detail. The theme name is inspired by the Chiclet chewing gum (produced by Cadbury Adams), which the category icons next to each post resemble.

The theme is designed to exude minimalism and it accomplishes this through the use of icons instead of text and the elimination of many blog fixtures such as calendars and blog rolls. The font face used throughout the theme is Helvetica Neue.

The theme is currently in “beta” and development is on-going. It is my first CSS webpage and first WordPress theme and it was coded by hand.

News: New Name, More Icons.

Just a short post to mention that my stock iPhone icon collection now has a name and I’ve added another 43 icons to the collection. The new icons include icons for games and charting apps, as well as a few others. Everyone who has already purchased the set gets this update for free using the URL and password on their purchase receipt. The name “Whitespace” is a tip of the hat to positive and negative space which plays a very important role in the design of simple pictograms like these. It’s from the interplay between positive and negative spaces that the icons find a form and elegance that is both utilitarian and expressive.

Rather than appearing as a series of squares and rectangles full of repetitively hard and indistinguishable edges, these icons appear soft, detailed and in some cases even curvaceous. Enjoy!

I’ve added 20×20 pixel-corrected versions of all 170+ icons to my Stock iPhone Toolbar Icons packages. These are the perfect size for use on the tab bar.
